Embryology of Diplura
Taxonomy of Diplura in Japan
Order Diplura has been dealt with as a member of the Entognatha.
However, some recent researches suggest a sistergroup relationship between Diplura and Ectognatha. I'm interested in using the dipluran embryos as materials to study morphological evolution between ancestral Hexapoda and Diplura, and comparing groundplan of Diplura with those of other entognathan members to answer "what is Entognatha?".

Embryology of Cryptocercidae (Blattodea)
My research work is focusing on embryological studies of wood-feeding cockroach, Cryptocercus punctulatus Scudder, to develop the discussion of phylogeny of Blattodea and Isoptera, because Cryptocercus cockroach is suggest to be sister group of Mastotermes termite, which is a basal clade of termite.

Embryology of Zoraptera
From the phylogenetic point of view, Order Zoraptera is undoubtedly the most enigmatic group of the entire Hexapoda. Not less than 10 different phylogenetic positions have been proposed since the group was introduced by Silvestri. To highlight the highly controversial systematic status of the enigmatic insect order, Beutel and Weide (2005) called the phylogenetic problem ‘Zoraptera problem, comparing to the‘Strepsiptera problem'.
Recently detailed morphological studies on Zoraptera have emerged, but information on their embryogenesis is still totally lacking.
Through this background, I work on an embryological study of Zoraptera.
