Acceptance of afflicted students and researchers

  We sincerely pray for the souls of the victims of the Eastern Japan quake and express deep sympathy for the afflicted people. We wish for restoration of afflicted areas and recovery of people's settled life without delays.
  Although our center is not necessarily a convenient refuge for general people in terms of location and climate, we could offer both living and studying facilities. We would therefore like to accept afflicted students and researchers as follows.

This service was finished.

[Intended people]
・ Afflicted students and researchers. Around 18 people in total.
・ If applications exceed the capacity, applicants who are facing to more serious difficulties will have the priority.

[Accommodation]
・ Building has three floors that are connected by only stairs.
・ Max 8 people in a room.
・ 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive to a supermarket and convenience stores.

[Fees for accommodation and other facilities]
Free

[Meal]
・ Meals will not be provided in principle.
・ Things for cooking ( portable gas stove x 7, dishes, plates etc.) are available.

[Period]
After 5th April, 2011. Until 26th June, 2011, in principle.

[Facilities]
Desks; internet; library; electric journals and databases; copy machine; printer; refrigerators; freezers; facilities and machinery for biology, anatomy, molecular biology, field studies, and meteorology. Details (only Japanese).

[How to apply]
Please send following information in a free form by fax or e-mail. We will inform applicants of whether we could accept them as soon as possible. (1) Affiliation and name of applicants, (2) brief description on how living and studying conditions are affected by the quake, (3) if applicants are students, affiliation and name of an official or alternative supervisor, (4) plural ways of contact.

*By public transport
Get off at "Ueda" station in JR Nagano shinkansen or Shinano railway.
Go to No. 3 bus stop at the castle-side entrance of the station. Take a bus to "Sugadaira Davos". Walk for 15 minutes to the center. (We could pick you up at the bus stop.)

*By cars
Get off at "Ueda-Sugadaira" IC in Joshin-etsu highway. Take route 144 in the direction of "Tsumagoi" and "Sugadaira". Turn left at "Sugadaira-guchi" traffic light to take route 406 to Sugadaira.
